Hannah Kozak - he threw the last punch too hard

Hannah Kozak’s book He Threw The Last Punch Too Hard, is an intimate witness of domestic violence. A document of the complex tradgedy in her own family, her mothers permanent disability from brain damage, and her subsequent need for insitutionalization since age 42.

Published by FotoEvidence in 2020 this book illustrates the real face of this world wide health crisis of violence against women.

Intimte partner abuse has been at levels which for any other illness would be labeld as epidemic. A complex issue it continues to be shrouded in silence and shame. A March 1st NYTimes article quotes Eve M. Valera, Associate Professor of Psychiarty at Harvard University, a leading researcher on traumatic brain injuries among survivors of domestic violence, in stating the estimated survivors of traumatic brain injuries YEARLY among survivors of domestic violence is 1.6 million women.

Our Women’s History Month will feature visual narratives by and for women in an expansive array of photobooks. Each filled with a sense of strength, grace and love with the focus being truth.
